This is my blog. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My blog is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my blog is useless. Without my blog, I am useless. I must fire my blog true. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my blog and myself are defenders of my mind, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen.

Considering that I have softball games tonight and tomorrow night, the timing of this episode could not be more perfect.

Overall, it was another solid episode. I found it interesting that Ryan seems to gravitate towards pitchers for his baseball heroes. I also agree with his point that sports often have several narratives occurring at the same time. The viewer merely picks out the ones that interest them the most.

Though it has been years since I watched Field of Dreams, it still remains one of my favourite sports films. Part of that has to do with the father/son angle which I am a sucker for in films in general.

Thank you again kind sir. See I agree on both accounts (re: narrative in sports). There are 50 different stories to be had in a game, but that's only if you define a context for that story. Which is why there's never been a sports movie where it begins and ends with a whistle but is always placed in the context of something bigger that the game itself proves/shows us. If only I said that in the show :)….

I'm actually excited for the next episode though… something 'different' coming there.

I listened even though I haven't seen the film, but I did read the book in high school, so all's good.

I consider myself to be casual sports fan and I go to a few games a year. I have been a die hard fan of the Toronto Blue Jays since childhood and I also consider myself a big soccer fan (thanks mostly to my Scottish father, who is a big Celtic supporter). However, I couldn't care less about hockey and the faux patriotism that goes with it.

Thanks for the comment and the listen Sean. Celtic is a great team that sadly is in a relatively mediocre league, I've always liked them whenever I've watched the Scottish League games.
