So if you’ve been following me on twitter (which if you’re reading this you probably do) I will be ending my 25 year long residence in Jamaica to be moving to Trinidad as of today (i.e. when this posts). By the time you’re reading this I’ll probably be sitting in the airport waiting to get on the plane to move to Trinidad.

There are many things about myself that I know are anti-Jamaican, but at the very same time I enjoy being able to call myself Jamaican. I don’t consider myself anything but me. Sometimes I don’t quite know how to explain it. I am who I am and not what people decide to label me (ohh all those 90s teen films are doing a number on me now) and that includes the baggage that comes along with a nationality as distinguished as “Jamaican”. In my eyes at times, and a lot of my Jamaican friends I think, I’m not Jamaican, I’m not American, I’m not English, I’m not Caribbean, but I am something I guess. Today I start to see how much of a Jamaican I really am, or not am, by thrusting myself into a completely different social setting and seeing how they respond.

Some of you may be reading this and wondering why the hell I’m posting this on my movie blog. We’ll since I don’t have a personal blog that I can tell people and pretend that they care I guess I have to use this one? Well I’m going to claim this as the reason for why my updates have been so sporadic here on the site and I imagine updates, for now at least, will continue to be sporadic. I have three podcasts recorded to post for you guys and I hope to have 2 of them up by the end of the week, but I don’t know.

I hope for this experience to be fulfilling as all hell and now I’ll finally be able to see what bigger theatre chains are like. Did I mention that there’s an IMAX just opened in Port of Spain (just 20 mins away from where I’ll be living). OMG this is going to be awesome for my movie life.

Anyways I hope y’all are doing okay and not worried, or worse jumping ship, about me and this blog. Things hopefully will be returning to normal in the coming days.
