I know that when you show up at your wife’s boss’ Christmas Party you don’t expect to be greeted with a loving embrace – especially when you’re having a few issues – but who knew you’d end up having to deal with a group of european robbers also? The movie is a Christmas classic and one of the best action movies you’re ever going to see from the 80s. Bruce Willis puts his stamp down as the witty and quick thinking cop from New York and Alan Rickman as the thief who makes sure that everything goes as planned. If only he had planned for this – Yippie Kay Yay Mutherfuker!
In all honesty, if you haven’t seen this film then you’re either five years old – in which case stop reading now and go ask you mommy for a copy of this for Christmas – or something is just wrong with you. This is the movie that makes you man in my belief. It has all the problems that movies from this era happens to have – a ridiculous lack of character buiding – but at the same time that’s what makes the movie so great. It doesn’t make you worry about what happens to the character when the credits roll, but rather blows shit up without trying to care so much about if St. Nick is coming down the chimney.
Anyways this is my offering for Day #4 (technically yesterday) of these 12 Days of Christmas. Check out the trailer below:
Quote of the Film:
Hans Gruber: Mr. Mystery Guest? Are you still there?
John McClane: Yeah, I’m still here. Unless you wanna open the front door for me.
Hans Gruber: Uh, no, I’m afraid not. But, you have me at a loss. You know my name but who are you? Just another American who saw too many movies as a child? Another orphan of a bankrupt culture who thinks he’s John Wayne? Rambo? Marshal Dillon?
John McClane: Was always kinda partial to Roy Rogers actually. I really like those sequined shirts.
Hans Gruber: Do you really think you have a chance against us, Mr. Cowboy?
John McClane: Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker.
Mr. Cowboy. Classic.
