It’s day #3 already and I’m going into my childhood bag of films. I saw this movie in the theatres when I was only 10 with my parents and I remember thinking it was the most awesome thing ever. A father who loves his family but just never has the time for them finds himself scouring the town on Christmas Eve to find that perfect Christmas present for his son – a Turbo Man action figure – that happens to be the hottest selling toy of the season. He is pitted against a mail man, played by Sinbad, who’s doing the very same thing.
I don’t know what it is, but even though I saw all the really dumb child jokes tat was inserted into this movie I couldn’t help but still chuckle at it. Arnold Schwarzenegger is able to knowingly turn in a horrible performance from scene to scene where’s he’s just being thrown on the floor by moms of the shopping world. He even has his overly helpful and neighbourly neighbour, played by Phil Hartman, which makes me smile. Everytime I see the scene where Arnold shouts into the phone ‘put down that cookie’ I just crack up.
Anyways here’s some eggnog in your Christmas diet and make sure it’s spiked for maximum enjoyment. Here’s the trailer:
Quote of the Film:
Howard Langston: [as Turbo Man] Myron, you’re taking this too far.
Myron Larabee: [as Dementor] Hey, I’m not going home without that doll!
Chain Smoking Booster: [as Booster] Hey, buddy, this ain’t the way we rehearsed it!
Myron Larabee: You know what? Nobody likes you, Booster.
Loved this move.
Your best so far in the series
Thanks Rory
My ultimate guilty pleasure! There's nothing like watching The Governator knocking out an army of mall Santas, to get a turbo man.
