THIS WEEK ON DVD

It’s Tuesday, so here’s what’s on DVD today:

Don’t Think About it (i.e. Skip)

Whiteout

Here’s a straight up boring detective film that happens to be set in a really cold and dark place that noone wants to see.  Skip it before you get a drinking problem because you can’t forget it.

Gamer

A movie that want’s to comment on society needs to have a better execution that this.  if you want to make me feel bad because I love the internet and like playing FPS games then just make an infomercial next time, it’ll be more interesting that this piece of crap. (review)

I Haven’t Seen them but I want to

Smokin’ Aces 2:Assassins’ Ball

Here’s a STV release which is a sequel to a movie that I didn’t particularly like.  However, Vinnie Jones is in it.  I know this isn’t a particularly positive thing but I can’t help but find myself wanting to check this out.

No Impact Man

Here’s a documentary about a man who decides that for an entire year he’s going to try and life his life (along with his family) in a way that will make sure he has no carbon footprint.  In the eco-friendly world we are living in now it seems interesting to see what it would be like if I cared enough to try and do something like this, and then I’ll roll over until the feeling goes away.

Che (Criterion Collection)

Yes it’s a long ass couple of films, but it’s a long ass couple of films starring Benecio Del Toro and Steven Soderbergh which sounds amazing.  I don’t know all that much about Che Guevara, but I want to and I want to see this so bad.

Pandorum

I still think the trailer for this looks fantastic and I want to see this.  I know it’s be panned by critics across the web, but Ben Foster is in it people, there must be something good about it.  Please let it be good.

Check this Out (i.e. Rent)

Weeds (Season 5)

I did get slightly burned out over this show during the latest season but it still is funny from episode to episode most of the time.  It still finds ways to make the Botwin family supremely messed and darkly funny at the same time.  Not good enough for me to want to add it to my collection but definitely worth a rental if you like the show and happened to miss it on TV when it was airing.

Buy These Now

The Invention of Lying

Here is one of these really hilarious films that were missed last year.  I don’t know why people don’t like this but I found it end to end hilarious.  Ricky Gervais is a funny man and I will help him out and plug this movie more and more (following his queue from the Globes).  Check it out as a man in a world where everyone says exactly what’s on their mind and never lies a man discovers the lie.  Make sure to check it out for the Edward Norton cameo.

Here are some movies being rereleased on BluRay for HD fans

Here is the thing.  I’m not ‘recommending’ these movies.  I’m just letting the already fans of the new generation of home theatre and the movies about to be mentioned.  Personally all of these movies are either buys or rentals because they are all either movies that have a reputation to go along with them but I may not have seen all of them.  So this week on BluRay is:

Magnolia

Boogie Nights

The Bourne Identity

The Bourne Supremacy

The Bourne Ultimatum

Andrew Robinson

This is my blog. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My blog is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my blog is useless. Without my blog, I am useless. I must fire my blog true. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my blog and myself are defenders of my mind, we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen.

  1. Univarn

Pandorum is entertaining, but it's painfully overacted, and not as smart as it thinks it is. I have a feeling your review of it will be similar to your review of Book of Eli.
