Do you like DVDs? I do. What’s coming out on DVD you ask? well here you go:
Movies I Haven’t Seen and Want To
The Cove
A group of animal rights activists decide to go and find out what’s going on in Eastern Asia with the dolphins. It’s a CIA mission for all we know, but you’ve always heard all the horror stories of dolphins (the cutest creatures under the sea) are being killed for all the wrong reasons and with no regulations in the illegal market in Asia and noone seems to be noticing. Well finally someone is and I want to see what the hell is going on. I’ve heard this might be the best documentary of 2009, I wonder if it is?

Julie & Julia
This is one of those romantic comedies that people seem to not have loved as much as they hope, while I kind of liked it. Not enough to put in on my shelf but definitely enough to say that if you like Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Romantic/Comedies or movies about food/cooking then you might want to give this a look see. (here’s my original review).

World’s Greatest Dad
Here is one of those movies that you have to watch more than once to get it. It’s one of those dark comedies that you watch with your jaw on the floor the first time and your eyes streaming with tears from laughter on subsequent viewings. I love it. If you like Robin Williams and have been wondering when he is going to make another good movie and not any of the regular crap he’s been doing in the last few years then this is what you’ve been waiting for.
Public Enemies
Here is an instance where I’m going to do a complete 180 change on what I said only a few months ago in my original review. I have a problem with most Michael Mann films (I have no idea why I just do) in that I tend to loathe them the first time and love them the second time I watch them. This movie is no different. I decided (after writing my review) that I should see the movie again and I loved it. I want this in BluRay now! I thought Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Billy Crudup and Marian Cotiard all did great in this movie. It took me to the 30s and made it look even more gorgeous than I could imagine. I do think that the main problem most people who didn’t like the movie was that it felt like a random set of things that happened rather than one condusive story (I’m sure I said that too) but it totally isn’t. All these events are held together by subtle character moments that you really need to look closely for.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
This is by far my favourite of all the Harry Potter films. I think it’s the most mature of all the movies and I’m so happy to see that they are finally getting to the romantic side of the story as well as getting even closer to he who must not be named. The acting is brilliant the effects are great and the story is top notch; and to all those out there who are shouting at me about how much better the book is I refer you to this. (here’s my review)
The Cove is very good. They do give you a definitive answer of what is going on and it is pretty senseless. Even those who are of the opinion that "we kill cows and chickens, they kill dolphins" will be convinced. I prefer Anvil though.
