We take another look into the horrors of war, except instead of walking through battles of soldiers or the horrors of the victims of the direct aggressors we’re forced to follow a child’s experience being left alone and thrown from one scenario of despair to another as he moves through the world. This is the film of The Painted Bird.

We also begin our marathon of David Lean’s films, the early years at least.
