This was a very fun week for me. I got to pimp out wordpress at work and do a lot of other really fun code related things. Also I found out that I’ll be in Jamaica for a weekend this summer – WOOT! – which means seeing a lot of people I love and attending a very special event – that has pretty much nothing to do with this blog, but who cares. Regardless, this is what I watched this week passed:
THE CROODS (2013)
I walked in expecting to believe this movie was horrendous to okay, so happy to walk out having as enjoyable an experience as I did. The film is fun… F-U-N, FUN!. The animation is slick, comedy lovely and overall entertainment value high.
EVIL DEAD (2013)
Ughh… More horror remakes of silly films from the 80s is the equivalent of my poking my eyes with a stick. Read my full review.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1947)
What a gorgeous film. With the 90s Disney animated film still in the front of my mind I’m so pleased that this version was able to distinguish itself and find a place in my heart as an automatically beloved movie. The production value in a film that was done with so many financial and technological limitations is astounding to my brain. More on this in coming weeks.
LOUIS C.K. : OH MY GOD (2013)
I’m counting this. I like Louis C.K., and his stand up remains the right kind of biting that one needs after a long day at work.
THE CENTRAL PARK FIVE (2012)
This is one of those documentaries where the content is king. However, at the same time as a filmmaking endeavour I wouldn’t call this in any way interesting, and with me finding more and more ambitious documentaries I’m no longer willing to pass on just mere content. The story of this film is astounding none the less. Watch it for free on PBS here.
REWATCHED
This week was a week of me finding new blu-rays and DVDs on my shelf, including Defending Your Life, The Tree of Life and Django Unchained. Lots of great movies and I can’t mention enough how GREAT Defending Your Life is. Also with my obligatory revisit of X-Men: First Class my week is complete.
My count for the year of 2013 is updated to 72 First time watches (15 from 2013); 48 Rewatches; 120 Total Films
