Another week is over so it’s time to look back and sort of account for myself somehow. This was a hectic week for me noticing that during the week itself I saw no films, also didn’t go to the cinema since films released this week were sort of uninspiring, but still got around to a few interesting films this weekend that I’m glad I had the time to see.
FIRST TIME VIEWINGS
THE GUARD (2011) – a comedy about all those scenes that you don’t usually see in drug/cop movies and it’s fucking awesome
MONEYBALL (2011) – the core story and point is what drives the film into a good spot in my heart, but its execution feels middling at points
TERRI (2011) – It’s John C Reilly awesomeness and not much else.
REWATCHED
JUNO (2008) – “I just like being a piece of furniture in your weird life”
THE WRESTLER (2008) – “You’re my girl. You’re my little girl. And now, I’m an old broken down piece of meat… and I’m alone. And I deserve to be all alone. I just don’t want you to hate me.”
SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN (1952) – “Oh, no offense. Movies are entertaining enough for the masses but the personalities on the screen just don’t impress me. I mean they don’t talk, they don’t act, the just make a lot of dumb show. Well, you know.”
