So last week I didn’t make one of these posts last week to make room for my end of year list. I mentioned in that post my final count for the end of year, so read it there (along with the whole “list” thing going on there).
So it’s a new year and we wipe the list clean and start over. The goal is to beat my numbers from last year and to just generally carve even deeper into my 1001 Films challenge. I’d like to promise that I’ll do it weekly but I’m not that stupid any more.
So here’s the new year beginning awesome-like:
FIRST TIME VIEWING
THE THIN RED LINE (1998) – I will be watching this movie 2 more times before writing abt it; but it’s without a doubt one of Malick’s most introspective and at the same time accessible film (thanks to the war bits).
WEEKEND (2011) – honestly bored me… half of the film was pretty inaudible as well
THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (2011) – it’s the Swedish film, but I don’t have to read… Rooney Mara was awesome
PERSONA (1966) – 2nd ever Bergman film for me… not in love with it though, wish I was. Too much art for me at the time..
REWATCHED
HIGH AND LOW (1963) – “Your house looked like heaven, high up there. That’s how I began to hate you.”
INTO THE WILD (2007) – “To find yourself at least once in the most ancient of human conditions.”
FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS (2011) – “why don’t they ever a make a movie about what happens after they kiss?”
OUTBREAK (1995) – “I hate them willies, they ought to call them the Sams don’t you think?”
GI JOE: RISE OF COBRA (2009) – “Knowing is half the battle.”
THE COUNT
4 First Time Watches Films (0 From 2012); 5 Rewatches; 9 Total Films
Do you have access to netflix or something, or just rent all these movies (or buy them?). Lets see, I managed to finally get some free time from all the anime Im watching (litrally 20 different series a week)
I watched
Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides – Barbossa FTW, really made the movie nice amidst the other terrible characters
Scott Pilgrim vs The World – Pretty stunning, nice visuals
How to Train Your Dragon – That terrible ending to this predictable movie
Date Night – Just a movie with Tina Fey and the other character doing their funny voices while eating dinner would have been wonderful.
Naruto Shippuden: Bonds – SIMPLY STUNNING, second best movie of 2011 after Neon Genesis Evangelion: You Can (NOT) Advance
Yes I have access to Netflix. Some of the films are DVD I'm rewatching, some I go to the theatre.
Glad to see you've finally seen Scott Pilgrim… love that movie so much.
