After a week away from blogging, roughly, I’m glad to return. This week I’ll remain with the abbreviated What I’ve Been Watching, as I consider keeping it that way, and just hang out.
I’ve made it to August guys, and as some may have noted I’ve began the countdown on twitter — for what I will not say now — but it’s time to countdown. I’ve discovered the world of XCOMM thanks to my cohost, Damion, and I will be attempting to survive the alien onslaught and save the world, I’m not right now, and we’ll see how that goes.
Otherwise here’s the weekly report:
THE WOLVERINE (2013) – It’s a fun movie. Withholding the troublesome last fight scene that’s kind of silly, it embraces the mutant silliness while have ninjas and Wolverine. I’m with it.
THE CONJURING (2013) – I’m becoming more and more a fan of some of these horror films each year. Maybe it’s that I did Patrick Wilson and James Wan working together a lot.
HAPPY PEOPLE: A YEAR IN THE TAIGA (2010) – A fascinating subject but a boring documentary. More to come on this one in podcasting talks.
DRINKING BUDDIES (2013) – I guess I should start sourcing Swanberg’s other films since it seems he can do more than punch Faraci in the face. Fun movie, won’t be top of the year but an enjoyable film with fun characters that you liked spending time with.
POLICE STORY 2 (1988) – I adore the fist film, this felt like an overlong watered down version of that. The action didn’t really hit me as that great either, I blame the attempt at adding story into a badly written film to begin with.
REWATCHED
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE II – “You know, that was the hardest part about having to portray you, grinning like an idiot every fifteen minutes.”
X2: X-MEN UNITED – “Got anything other than chocolate milk?”
X-MEN: THE LAST STAND – “My boy, I have been fighting for mutant rights since before you had claws.”
My count for the year of 2013 is updated to 138 First time watches (55 from 2013); 114 Rewatches; 252 Total Films
