Every once in a while I’ll write up one of these posts where I glorify you (the reader). I’d love to say that I do this for you, but that would be a lie. I do this everyday for myself. It’s a way to push myself to be a better writer, and make myself watch some of those classic films that I probably would never have seen if it weren’t for this.
Today I got a phone call which made me realise that not only do you really like me, but it might just work out.
A month or so ago I had a meeting with someone at my local newspaper, The Jamaica Gleaner, about possibly writing columns for the Saturday Gleaner. He told me to work a specific article, send it in, and he would review it and then we would talk about whether the paper would be able to accommodate me.
Time went by and I felt that possibly I wasn’t good enough to be accommodated. Today however I got a phone call from the man who interviewed me to tell me that they published that article I sent in the past Saturday (Top 5 Jamaican Films) and if I had any ideas for anymore articles. So after three years of blogging, four years of critiquing, and twenty-four years of wasting time in front of the television I’m not only feeling like something may come of it, I’m getting some validation. Every so often we all need a little validation to remind us that we’re not wasting our time on our hobbies (and/or professions) and today gave me a sense of validation that makes me not only smile, but just want to run down my street and pump my fist with a resounding OHH YEAH!!!
So this me once a again saying thank you, and I hope you all stick around because I have some great plans of the website in the coming months and for the new year.
Congrats Andrew! Very well deserved sir :)
Thanks man..
